iPR-EX In line refractometer

  • Ex-protection version of the iPR-B3
  • Suitable for all applications in explosion-proof areas
  • Certified according to European Classification ATEX II 1 G Ex ia IIC T4 Ga
  • Permanent inline real-time measurement of the concentration of dissolved solids.
iPR - EX Automatic process refractometer
A fully automatic process refractometer for direct measurement of dissolved solids, process monitoring and control. Principle of the critical-angle refractometer with sapphire prism and high-resolution photodiode array; no influence of color and opacity of the medium on the measuring result.

Measuring head made of stainless steel, chemical resistant, food safe, hygienic, for process temperatures up to 120 °C (with connected water cooling) and pressures up to 1 MPa.

The explosion protection version of the process refractometer consists of an intrinsically safe, single-certified sensor, which is installed in the hazardous area. The measuring signals are routed to the non-explosive area via a special cable (maximum length 500 m) and connected to 4 zener barriers. The connection to the central control system is realized with a RTU Modbus or serial RS 485 interface.

Alternatively, Schmidt + Haensch offers a control unit, which is also installed outside the hazardous area. The 7 “touch screen is individually configurable. The measured data can be output via Ethernet as a 24 V or 4-20 mA signal or control a relay.
For data transmission to other systems, serial RS 232, 485 interfaces, a CAN bus or UPC server are available.

Up to two measuring heads can be connected at the same time.

SENSO REF compact refractometer

  • Ultra compact design
  • Stainless steel
  • Modbus and RS-232
  • Self-monitoring system
Picture
High precision in a compact design
The SensoRef sensor from Schmidt + Haensch opens up a new field of miniaturization for process refractometers.
Thanks to the new optical design, the actual sensor has the size of a golf ball. It design requires fewer parts, resulting in a highly efficient and compact construction. As a true sensor, it can be used in applications which cannot be met by conventional refractometers.

If the application requires minimal volumes, has space limitations or requires mobile operation, Schmidt + Haensch has the ultimate solution in the ultra compact Senso Ref regractometer.

Designed to be easily integrated with common process controls, it can be connected directly to a PLC via Modbus or RS-232 interface. Integrated functions such as temperature measurement, cleaning control and filling level detection ensure a self-monitoring system.

iPR B³ Process refractometer

The  iPR B³ automatically operating process refractometer measures the refractive index continuously and thus, the concentration of a binary or quasi-binary liquid mixture. The measurement is independent of light intensity from the light emitting diode (LED) and is free of signal drift, granting high precision and better process control. Colour, turbidity, undissolved particles or gas bubbles do not affect the measurement.
The newly developed process refractometer iPR B³ replaces the well etablished iPR Basic².The stand-alone sensor with integrated electronic ranks between the compact model iPR C² and the full range model iPR FR².

The new sensor comes with a measuring range up to 90% Brix (refractive index 1.52). It is not only suitable for almost all applications in the field of food production and pharmaceutical industries, but also for many processes in the area of mechanical and automotive engineering and chemistry.

The stylish stainless steel housing of the sensor is partially equipped with a blue anodized air cooling jacket. This cooling jacket protects the electronic components from overheating in process temperatures up to 80 ° C. CIP cleaning at the prescribed temperatures is of course possible but the instrument must be switched off.
The special design and electronic equipment makes it highly flexible and easy to use. The iPR B³ is equipped with two switch outputs to run, for example, a connected valve (max. 1A, 24 DC) or relay. With this feature is it also possible to control the cleaning of the measuring prism via a magnet valve.
The iPR B³ measuring head can be installed in pipes, reactors, vessels and mixing tanks, using different weld-in flanges. Our preferred joint system is VariVent. It allows easy installation through a plug-in clamping method. Some processes may require cleaning of the sensor face. SCHMIDT + HAENSCH offers an optional cleaning nozzle or a special designed ultrasonic cleaning device.
In addition to known standard scales such as Brix, Oechsle, ethylene glycol, sodium chloride, urea, etc. SCHMIDT + HAENSCH offers also customized scales.
